MUSICAL THEATRE FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS

Designed for students in 3rd – 5th grades, this beginning acting class introduces young performers to the fundamentals of theater performance in a fun, encouraging, and supportive environment. Students will explore acting through improvisation, theater games, character development, storytelling, voice, movement, and scene work while learning how to express themselves with confidence and creativity.

Beyond the stage, students develop valuable life skills including communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and empathy. With a focus on technique, exploration, and personal growth, this class helps students build a strong foundation in acting for future productions while creating a safe space where they can take creative risks, make new friends, and discover their unique voice.

ACTING FUNDAMENTALS

Designed for middle school students, this acting class introduces young performers to the fundamentals of the actor’s craft in a fun, supportive, and creative environment. Students will explore character development, improvisation, scene work, script analysis, voice, movement, and storytelling while learning how to make confident, authentic choices on stage.

More than just learning how to perform, students develop skills that benefit them both on and off the stage, including collaboration, problem-solving, empathy, and self-confidence. With an emphasis on technique over performance, this class provides a strong foundation for future acting opportunities while encouraging students to take creative risks, express themselves, and discover their unique voice as performers.

The course will culminate in a showcase of selected scenes, giving families the opportunity to celebrate each student’s growth and the skills they’ve developed throughout the class.

VOCAL PERFORMANCE

Designed for middle school singers and musical theater performers, this vocal technique and performance class helps students build healthy singing habits while developing confidence, expression, and stage presence. Through individualized coaching and group exercises, students will strengthen breath support, vocal tone, range, diction, musicianship, and performance skills while exploring age-appropriate repertoire from musical theater and contemporary styles.

Emphasis is placed on storytelling through song, helping students understand lyrics, make thoughtful performance choices, and connect authentically with an audience. Whether preparing for auditions, performances, or simply growing as a singer, students will develop a strong vocal foundation, greater confidence, and the tools to become expressive, well-rounded performers.

The course will culminate in a showcase of selected songs, giving families the opportunity to celebrate each student’s growth and the skills they’ve developed throughout the class.

PLAYING SHAKESPEARE

Designed for teens of all experience levels, Shakespeare Made Easy takes the mystery out of the Bard’s language and makes classical acting fun, accessible, and engaging. Students will learn to understand Shakespeare’s text through games, scene work, voice, movement, and character exploration while building confidence with verse, vocabulary, and storytelling.

Rather than memorizing difficult passages without context, students will discover how Shakespeare’s language comes alive through performance. This class serves as the perfect introduction to classical theater and prepares students for next summer’s production of Much Ado About Nothing by building the skills and confidence needed to tackle the challenge with enthusiasm and success.

The course will culminate in a showcase of selected songs, giving families the opportunity to celebrate each student’s growth and the skills they’ve developed throughout the class.

Designed for teen performers, this technique and scene study class builds the essential skills needed for confident, authentic performance. Students will strengthen their acting through character development, script analysis, vocal technique, physical storytelling, and movement while exploring scenes from contemporary plays and musicals. Through partner work, ensemble exercises, and individualized coaching, students learn to make truthful, compelling choices and deepen their connection to the text and one another.

Emphasizing technique over performance, this class provides a strong artistic foundation while fostering creativity, collaboration, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the actor’s craft.
